Mission of South Central Community Services, Inc. (SCCS) 

South Central Community Services, Inc. is a comprehensive human service agency committed to improving the quality of life for individuals and families by providing quality mental health, educational, socio-economic, and recreational programs and services throughout the State of Illinois.

Mission of the Junior Board

The mission of SCCS Junior Board is to support the overall mission and activities of South Central Community Services, Inc. by acting as ambassadors, developing leadership skills and sharing technical skills and by engaging other community members ages 21-40 years old in becoming the next generation of Directors.

Purpose of the Junior Board
The Junior Board was formed in order to reach a young population of community members to engage them in the Board development process, build future leaders and support fundraising and advocacy efforts of South Central Community Services, Inc. A member of the senior Board of Directors shall be assigned to the Junior Board.

What do Junior Board Members do?

• Learn how to conduct meetings
• Outreach
• Public Speaking
• Group decision-making
• Develop project ideas
• Grant research and application
• Develop fundraising skills

Junior Board Members must:

• Be 21-40 years old and display an extraordinary commitment to fundraising and advocacy.
• Be an enthusiastic community advocate for the mission of South Central, especially among Chicago’s young professional community.
• Attend one South Central Community Services, Inc. event annually.
• Attend regularly scheduled Junior Board meetings, held once every other month, and additional committee meetings as needed.
• Pay annual membership dues of $150.00.
• Actively participate in one of the following Junior Board Committees:
            *Executive                                 *Resource/Fundraising & Special Events
            *Marketing                                 *Membership & Nominations

• Plan and execute at least 2 major fundraisers.
• Assist in selling tickets for fundraising events and or raffle tickets.
• Be actively involved in the solicitation of funds to support the organization, its mission and activities.
• Commit to a one-year term with the option to continue involvement after the first term.
• Establish standards and expectations for Junior Board members.
• Identify, nominate, consider and elect new Directors and Officers of the Junior Board.
• Educate and involve fellow Directors.
• Maintain a basic understanding of the programmatic affairs of the Agency.
• Provide volunteer technical skills in at least one of the following areas for the benefit of South Central.
 

• Advertising • Membership and Nomination
• Development Planning • Web Development
• Event Planning • Website Design/Maintenance
• Grant Writing • Newsletter Planning
• Marketing and Planning • Other
• Public Relations  


• Volunteer time as available and recruit additional assistance for activities such as mailing assembly, and marketing materials distribution.
• MUST HAVE ALL ACTIVITIES APPROVED BY THE PRESIDENT/CEO OF THE AGENCY.

The Junior Board of South Central Community Services Inc. (SCCS) is once again teaming up with Laugh Factory Chicago for a night of stand up comedy to benefit a great agency.
